The
Boku Books logo and surface art are created by Oakland, California
artist Bud Peen. Peen’s award winning career includes the creation
and development of book and commercial illustration, animation, furniture
and sculptural design. His surface art patterns used on the Boku Books
line carry emotion and whimsy and have set a standard of beauty that will
continue on in further product development.
Bud is an advocate for the protection of artists’
works and is often called on to testify before legislators. He was the
designer of the original West Coast Print Center logo, and we rediscovered
him in a newspaper article showing his new banner designs that had been
chosen by competition, to hang in the Dimond District of Oakland. He's
been a “spiritual” advisor and cheerleader during the development
of the products, and has at the same time, inspired and supported positive
growth and business practices for Boku Books.
